Let it go...

So I said I fell in love again in Paris and this time it wasn't with a man but with a dad.  Not an old geezer but my daughters dad, otherwise known as husby.  And with the daughter too.  We went to Disneyland people!  So as you can imagine the magic dust and fireworks were completely to blame.

I actually wasn't looking so forward to it in all honesty because I imagined loads of rides and things I would have to decline doing because I can't stand any of that.  But it wasn't like that at all.  It was magical and emotional and beautiful in its special tacky-Disney-pretend-you-are-5 kind of way.  Plus they play Disney music full blast in the whole park, so there's a soundtrack and everything!!!

We went with family and Tilly and her cousin made it a big adventure.  We stayed in the 'lodge' themed hotel.  Note the word lodge which gives you an idea of the level we're talking.  No princess suite here,  but it was rather good.  An indoor and outdoor pool with a slide and all.

Mickey and Winnie the Pooh were at breakfast in the morning, along with a lot of little humans.

This is what we discovered….
There is pretty much nothing healthy to eat in the hotel or surrounding areas and you cannot bring wine into Disneyland as I discovered.
If you have any hangups about gender stereotypes - look away now.  Its princess country people and Elsa is on the top of the list (although she isn't really a princess in the true sense of the word).  But you will not be able to buy much Elsa merchandise there since it is mostly - sold out!!!  * for those unaware, Elsa is the one who sings Let it go.

We spent 45 minutes queuing to book a time to meet a princess which was the longest queuing time.  From the space provided for queuing I'd say July and August must be a nightmare.  So Spring is the time to do this!

Food is not readily available before 12am since the french don't eat like the rest of the world.  But you can buy candy floss, jellies and other sugary substances until then just to ensure your kid is on a high.  Then prepare to queue for 40 minutes to eat a form of lunch, just when your kid is perfectly over tired, hungry and wired!

Bring a stroller for anyone under 6.  Bring snacks that can travel and a whole bunch of patience.  If you have those 3 three things and a sentimental nature, you are on a roll.

And guess what…..we were rolling!

And they lived happily ever after…..

Thank you to Annette, Malin and Emil for the great memories x
